BOOKS

The Central Library has a rich collection of approximately 30,000 books from national and international publishers. Books are mainly on subjects taught in the college, covering broad disciplines of Arts, Science, and Commerce. The subjects include Bengali, English, Sanskrit, Political Science, Philosophy, Education, Physical Education, History, Sociology, Psychology, Geography, Economics, Botany, Microbiology, Zoology, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Accounting and Financing.

There is also a considerable collection of reference books on wide range of subjects and reference formats, such as dictionary, encyclopaedia, thesaurus, directory, travel guide, etc.

National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content (N-LIST) is the college component of e-ShodhSindhu Consortium under MHRD, Govt. of India. It is jointly executed by UGC-INFONET Digital Library Consortium, INFLIBNET Centre, and INDEST-AICTE Consortium, IIT Delhi. The college has authorized subscription to the Consortium and members (faculty, staffs, and student) can access for the huge e-resources (6000+ e-journals, 1, 64,300+ e-books through N-LIST and 6, 00,000 e-books through NDL of India).

  • Indian National Science Academy (res.in/index.php)

The Indian National Science Academy was established in January, 1935 in Calcutta with the object of promoting science in India and harnessing scientific knowledge for the cause of humanity and national welfare. Initially it was named National Institute of Sciences of India (NISI), later changed to the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) in February 1970. After establishment in 1935, the Academy started functioning from with its headquarters at the Asiatic Society of Bengal, Calcutta, and the first President was Dr. L.L. Fermor (1935-36). Dr Meghnad Saha was the first ever elected President of the Academy and was in Chair during 1937-38. It is the apex body of Indian scientists encompassing all branches of science and technology. Faculty members, staffs, and students of the college can access full text of INSA publications.

The Indian Academy of Sciences (IAS) was founded and registered as a society in 1934 with objectives to promote the progress and uphold the cause of science in both pure and applied branches. It succeeded to meet its key objectives through promotion of original research and dissemination of scientific knowledge to the community via meetings, seminars, symposia, and publications. The Academy is now an autonomous institution under the Department of Science and Technology (DST) of the Govt. of India and also fully funded by DST. Faculty members, staffs, and students of the college can access full texts of vibrant publications of IAS on the subjects Physics, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Biosciences, Engineering Sciences, Popular Sciences, Earth Science, Science Education, IAS Conference proceedings, etc. along with their archival issues.

Sage Publishing is an independent publishing company founded in 1965 in New York by Sara Miller McCune and George D. McCune. It has its headquarters in California, U.S.A. and principal office at Los Angeles. This giant publishing house publishes academic books, scholarly journals, reference and library products on Social Science, Science, Humanities, Medicine, and Technology. Faculty members, staffs, and students of the college can selectively access full text through SAGE Pure Gold Open Access Journals and SAGE Green Open Access Archive.
